Current Web Technologies

This class was a self study, graduate level class. I took it as an independent study and sat in on the class. The class focused on technologies that make the web what it is today. For my study I decided to take a deeper look at the PHP Programming Language. I chose this because I found it very interesting in the Web Development Minor and wanted to learn the language more fully.

We had a semester long project to develop something that showed the power of the language. I decided to build an application to track how far a user is in their major(s) and/or minor(s), which I called “AAdvisor” [for Academic Advisor, I have used this application through college to help me complete 2 degrees in 4 years]. Though my primary focus was PHP, I quickly found that I needed to learn MySQL for the application as well. Overall, the application turned out decently.

I’m currently overhauling the engine that is used for the application and adding a new front-end to it, however, I will keep the legacy “AAdvisor” link active for this page:
